Shared Small-Group Tours in Monteverde
Our shared departures stay at 6–10 guests max per guide, so everybody gets time at the scope and the guide can still stop for the small things: a bellbird calling above the trail, a sloth wedged in a cecropia, an orchid the size of a fingernail.

Group tours — entrance fee included
One payment covers the guide and the reserve admission, so there is nothing to pay or queue for at the gate on the morning of your walk.

How small our shared groups really are
A shared departure runs with 6–10 guests max per guide. Parties larger than 12 are split between two guides, and nobody ends up in a group of more than 10 unless they are a family or a group travelling together. That limit is the whole point: everybody gets time at the spotting scope, and the guide can still stop for the small things instead of marching a line of twenty people down the trail.
Shared groups open with a minimum of 2 guests. If you are travelling solo, send a tour request and we will do our best to add you to a group that is already running.
What a shared morning looks like
You meet your certified bilingual naturalist guide at the reserve, and the walk follows the forest rather than a script: a bellbird calling above the trail, a sloth wedged in a cecropia, army ants crossing the path, an orchid the size of a fingernail. The guide sets up the scope whenever something is worth a closer look.
Our shared daytime departures run in Curi-Cancha and in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, and there is a shared night walk in the Monteverde Wildlife Refuge on our night tours page. On every shared tour the reserve admission is included in the price.
When a private tour makes more sense
Shared tours are the best value and, for most visitors, the best introduction to the cloud forest. A private tour is worth it when you want a specific pace — young children who need shorter stretches, a slower walk, two hours at a single hummingbird garden, or one particular bird you have travelled for.
Both options visit the same reserves with the same guides. If you are unsure, start with the shared small group; it is the same forest, the same scope and the same guiding.
